The City of Plainview will conduct a budget workshop and a special meeting to be held at the Plainview Community Building at 5:00 PM. The purpose of the workshop will be to line up various needs and costs for the fiscal year 2014-2015. According to City Administrator Michael Holton this is the time to get involved. "In the most transparent form of government, the citizens will have a say in what next year should look like in terms of infrastructure and the needs of the city", stated Holton. There will be another workshop that will be held in late August to help finalize many of the costs as well as a regular meeting
As part of the process to get a special bond on the November ballot, the Library Board is seeking 50 or more freeholders of land in Plainview that support the measure being put on the ballot. According to City Administrator Michael Holton, "The way it was explained to me was that this was an old statute that deals particularly with libraries and bonds. The bond company requires 50 freeholder signatures to be submitted to the County to get the bond issue on the November ballot". Holton plans on presenting the ballots to the Council on July 15th and then forward them to the Pierce County Clerk, Shannon Wragge.
