With the impending retirement of City Clerk, Lori Wragge, coming in July, the City Council concluded their search for a new City Clerk and offered the position to Kelly Pendergast, a Plainview native. Along with three other candidates chosen for the finalists, Kelly's previous experience with other municipalities and city government proved to be the deciding factor. Judy Wilson, offered the recommendation to City Council on Monday evening, May 19th and also offered a recommendation to start the position at $35,000 salaried. Kelly accepted the position the next day and will begin her duties under training on June 3rd.
Early morning on Monday, May 19th, the City of Plainview experienced water pressure drop. There was a communication failure between the water wells and the water tower. Curt Hart, the Water Superintendent, responded to the call and had the system operational within minutes.
